Chandai Raghunauth was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Throughout her life, Chandai had discovered a love of traveling and experiencing different cultures, she enrolled in the Travel and Tourism program. Inspired by the program and wanting to further educate herself, she went on to garner a degree in Hospitality Management. It was through this program that Chandai gained a wealth of knowledge in culinary and pastry arts as well in business and management.
Always ambitious, Chandai decided to resign from her position at a hotel in NYC and travel to Paris, France for the summer to study. Returning, educated and filled with adventure, to a city bursting with excitement Chandai was motivated. Upon returning from Paris, she went into a hospitality/culinary internship where she discovered her passion in creating; from prepping, to plating, to implementing details for an event of 1600 persons at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. After Chandai graduated she applied for a full-time position at a large hotel chain in Catering and Banquets.
During her stay as a Catering & Banquet department assistant, she had many opportunities to work closely to learn the operations of the department. She then transferred to a position as a Food, Beverage and Catering assistant, which allowed her the opportunity to work directly with clients to create the most memorable and personalized events and weddings. After having experienced the role of creating and personalizing events and weddings, Chandai found her passion - her spark!
Fast forward to today, Chandai loves being behind the scenes, making sure things run smoothly, educating and advising the client on choices and options. She launched her own company, Kismet Events Inc., in 2010. After taking a few clients at a time she knew she wanted to do more. She loves the questions, the challenges, figuring out the puzzle of where things go and how the details of the event fit together, the different styles and most of all the party! At the end of the 2016 the company was rebranded Chandai Events was launched!

I’ve been in the Hospitality Industry for over 11 years in different departments from housekeeping, security and the food & beverage division. I have been able to transfer my skills from the hospitality industry to event planning. A lot of what I learned is guest relations and making the guest happy. My company is based on hospitality and educating the client on the various events they need to know.
